Ayam Penyet Ria Review - Bedok Mall

Hello people in my wonderland who is currently read this post and wondering if they should eat at the restaurant.

In this post, as the title states, I'll be reviewing Bedok Mall's Ayam Penyet Ria.

Kindly note that I am no food critic and everything in this post of mine is based strictly on my personal opinion.

First and foremost, I would like to declare that I've ate Ayam Penyet several times before, around SG and once at this restaurant. Today was the second time I'm dining here and I only have one word to describe my experience.

Disappointing.

This restaurant used to serve really good ayam penyet but I have no idea what happened to it after the past few years or months. The chicken they served in the restaurant SHRUNK. When I dined there a year back or so, I would usually share one plate with my dining buddy since the portion was huge. But today, when I dined there, the portion shrunk and I did not feel full after eating one set by myself.

just look at how small this is.

I finished it in less than 20 bites. There's not much meat like previously and the chicken is rather cold when we were served. Last time, it was still crispy and hot. Another thing, I remember their chili used to pack a punch. You wouldn't taste how spicy it is until later on and by the time you finish your meal, you would be perspiring like mad. This time round however, none of my dining buddies perspired and they all complained that the chili doesn't taste as good as it used to.

One last thing. The don't serve some drinks in the can form now. They used to serve drinks such as coke & sprite in can form but now they just pour it in a plastic up and serve it to you. Plus the price for it is ridiculous??? I paid SGD 2.05 for one frigging cup of sprite. SGD 4.10 for two cups of sprite. One word = Ridiculous.

SGD 2.05 for one cup guys.

Overall, standard has dropped. When I dined there previously, there would always be a queue for tables but now, no queue at all. Portion of the chicken and drinks have dropped as well. Oh ya, one more thing, if you're there, don't order the Fried Egg with Tofu dish. It's horrible.

If you're looking for a place that serves decent Ayam Penyet or Fried Egg with Tofu dish thingy, I recommend the one at Bedok Food Centre. It's value for money, portion is bigger and it's hot and crispy as well.

That's all for now.

Till the next post,
xoxo,
