Overall, the hotel and room environment was good during my stay. The only thing that wasn't up to standards was the attitude of the staffs there.

The room we booked was a deluxe, connecting room. However, the hotel doesn't have deluxe rooms which were connecting so the staffs gave us the option to move to the superior room (which was cheaper than the deluxe room). To compensate for the difference, they offered us entry to the club lounge for high tea throughout our stay. We couldn't pay more to upgrade either because they were fully booked.

Okay, sounds fair.

That evening, we went to the club lounge and was greeted with annoyed faces by the staff who asked us for our room number. The moment he heard the room number, he didn't even bother smiling at us or serve us drinks.

All because we were not from the executive suite.

We didn't think too much of it and just let it go since we were kinda tired from a long ass day. But, less than 30 minutes in, a group of old men came in, wearing long pants. The male staff that took down our room number immediately approached them with a smile and served them drinks.

Oh wow. Double standard much?

I walked over to the food counter and requested for a iced chocolate. The same male staff, in front of the old men, told me that I should wear long pants and dress smartly if I wanted to enter the club lounge.

Seems like he was out to embarrass the hell out of me.

What kind of service is this? I expected better since this is a 4-star hotel. Even during my stay at Amari Watergate Bangkok, I wore shorts and a t-shirt to the lounge and nobody said anything.

And it was
AMARI WATERGATE BANGKOK. AMARI.

Anyways, we spoke to the manager afterwards and he was really apologetic for the inconvenience caused. He upgraded our rooms for us and arranged for us to move up to the executive suite the next day to compensate the room issue.

Below are photos of the superior room we stayed in for the 1st night:

Like I mentioned above, the hotel and room environment was really good during my stay. There was nothing to complain about with the room, unlike Phuket's Charm Resort. That was horrible.

If you didn't know what happened, you can read my review here: The Charm Resort Phuket

Personally, because I'm used to staying in the Pratunam area, I wouldn't stay at this hotel again despite how good the room was. Yes, it is located above MBK Center but everyone knows that if you are in Bangkok, you shop at Platinum Fashion Mall. Not MBK Center.

To me, the Pathumwan Princess Hotel's location isn't very good. The only night market I spotted during my stay was the one opposite MBK Center and it occupied only a small area. Platinum Fashion Mall was so far from the hotel. In the past, I would visit the fashion mall several times. This time around, I only went there ONCE. I didn't get to visit the usual night markets I went to either.

If you are looking for a hotel to stay for your Bangkok trip, I recommend Centrepoint, glow pratunam, Amari Watergate, Centara Grand and Novetel (located right above platinum fashion mall).

That's all I have for this post!
