Before I move on and start this blog post ,
One word . YES.
YES. This is a rant post.
This is a bloody RANT post when its suppose to be a HAPPY one .
It all started with us wanting to have prom out of school. Yes , US. The STUDENTS
The alumni decided to organize it for us since the response was good. They gave out survey forms and we got to choose what theme and how much we were willing to pay for prom. I selected the theme I liked and how much I was willing to pay.
When the alumni had a assembly on prom , telling us that the theme would be Glamorous Night and it would cost $60 for early bird and $65 for those who pay after the early bird period , I was really hesitant to go because it wasn't the theme I wanted and it was over the price I was willing to pay. But still , I decided to go since it might be the last time hanging out with the clique. But after what happened , I regretted my decision. I'm not the kind of person to regret most of the stuffs I do and this might actually be the first decision I regretted out of the 365 days and 52 weeks .
So a few weeks after N'levels ended , Huda and I decided to go out shopping for our outfit ( more like me shopping & her acting as my "boyfriend" ) Both of us were really looking forward to prom. I got a skirt from H&M and a pullover from Forever 21 . Both outfits cost me $50 so in total , I spent $110 on prom. On the day of prom , Huda and I curled our hair and did our makeup over at my house. At that point of time , I was really nervous and excited and I bet Huda was too.
A few weeks before , Edmund , the organizer texted us saying that registration for prom will be at 6.20pm at The Chervons ( yes , we paid $60 for prom at the chervon ) So both of us got ready for it and arrived 1 hour before the registration timing. When we reached the venue , there was hardly anyone from our school so we decided to explore around but meh ~ nothing much =_= As time passed , more and more people arrived but registration haven't even started and it was after 6.20pm around 7pm that registration started. I was angry at the fact that registration started late but its okay.
From what I remembered , we were suppose to enter the "room" by 7:30pm ( if I didn't remember wrongly ) but guess what ? It was after 7:30pm when we entered. Upon entering , we were given goodie bags and guess what again ? They gave cheapo stuffs . The goodiebag plastic bag came with A box of pepero ( 3 boxes for $3.25 at giant ) , a facial mask , a lollipop , a sweet and a packet of yeo's drink ( the entire goodie bag didn't even cost more than $10.) I was expecting like a box of 3 macaroons or something more high class-ish since I paid $60 not $16. Oh! and they had those jelly dessert on each table
If I'm not wrong , all the tables had those scented flowers from ikea sprinkled over them. The event started with the emcees talking ( also from the alumni ) and they made us do some physical stuffs , turning which ever directions they said with our eyes closed . ( well fish you , I did not pay $60 for it and its P.R.O.M not P.E. ) After the stupid physical exercise / movement ( whatever you call it ) thing , it was dinner time and it was around 8pm.
Not that I'm trying to be picky here or anything but from the slideshows edmund showed previously , I recall a 10 course meal or buffet ? I know food it food and that we should be grateful but I was really surprised when I walked to the buffet table. It wasn't even 10 course =,= and thats not the worse. I was expecting like legit seafood since everyone paid $60 / $65 but they served pasta , some sort of pizza bread ( not even real pizza ) , over baked spicy fish fillet or smth , spicy chicken(?) not even a since legit seafood found and the oven baked spicy fish fillet tasted effing bland. It was only a 8 course buffet / meal including desserts . Desserts weren't even suppose to be included since its a 10 course MEAL / BUFFET . I added it in to make the 10 courses less pathetic. Dessert was tiny rectangular cut cheesecake , fruit salad and eclair.
That wasn't the end of it . Somewhere in the middle , we were told that there would be a game where we would have to look around for the stuffs the emcees read out ( fish you , get them yourself . I ain't here to help you find stuffs ) and the table who doesn't get all the stuffs will do the chicken dance ( fuck you , I did not pay $60 to make a fool out of myself . I would do that at home . alone ) In the end , my table didn't manage to get the 3 20cent coins and we had to do the chicken dance =.= I actually thought that since it was OUR prom they would like us off but NO. One of the emcees even said that if those that need to do the forfeit didn't go up on stage , he would force us up there .Yes , he used the word force. ITS OUR PROM , I'M HERE TO ENJOY THE SHOW, I PAID $60 / $65 WHY DO I HAVE TO FUCKING MAKE A FOOL OUT OF MYSELF ?
After the stupid chicken dance , there was a sharing session. I was expecting a dance or singing performance from some professionals but instead , 2 girls from the school performed for us . Sharing session was freaking boring . I'm not even interested in listening to your stories . Like I don't hear enough of your voice in school. That part was the most boring and I was gonna fall asleep and the worst part was we were running out of time . Lucky draw was kinda boring but 10/10 for creativeness ~ They used quotes instead of numbers to pick the winner . Before I forget , the principal , principal and hod(?) of most of the subjects were present on prom :> I am so damn "happy" because of that. It's my prom but why are the teachers there ? Do I not see them enough in school ?
Boring stuffs happened blah blah blah , and there was a memory game where the selected soon to be prom queen and king . They had to remember what the first to second last person said and then repeat whatever they said . The first round was successful so they couldn't pick a winner in the end , the emcees decided to play another round to determine the winner and guess what ? They couldn't decide on the winner and all of the soon to be prom queen and king got a gift. DAFUG YOU PLAY THE GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE. BLOODY WASTE OF MY TIME. I DIDN'T PAY $60 TO SEE IF PEOPLE GOT GOOD MEMORY ANOT LEH
Before I knew it , it was already 11pm and it hasn't even ended yet =.= Hello ? emcees ? Do you not know the differences between 10pm and 11pm ? We were supposed to go off at 10pm but you delayed it till 11pm because of the registration --" The clique and I decided to just escape from the "room" while the room was dark and the emcees were walking towards to the school staff table and asking them to sing along to the song.
Yeap . We ran out of the "room" I don't bloody care if the emcees noticed that table 1 is empty and if they feel insulted because I effing paid $60 for prom , looking forward to it and the 10 course meal but all I was a 8 course meal and I even made a fool of myself doing the chicken dance on stage and if I don't , the emcee would personally get off the stage and make me go up and dance ~ such a great emcee though . where to find such a nice person ?
A short summary of this entire blog post :
I looked forward to prom , spent $110 on it . Paid $60 expecting a 10 course meal / buffet but all I got was a cheapo goodie plastic bag , lousy entertainment , nearly forced to do the chicken dance but still did it , felt humiliated , left prom and didn't care if the organizer felt insulted because it was fucking badly organised and it was a waste of my $60. I could have spent it at USS but I trusted that the alumni would spend time to organize a really nice prom for us since it was $60 and its not a small sum. Even if its not super high class , don't be so cheapskate lah . Don't even have proper entertainment . Just the emcees laughing at almost everything they said =,= I admit some were funny but some were quite lame . I did not pay $60 for this kind of food and entertainment.
Shall end off with this sentence ,
If one of the alumni / emcees / organizer sees this , I hope you see how badly the students prom was.We paid $60/$65 and this is what we get.
