10-13 Dec'16 ; Hong Kong
你好!
//this post won't be in chinese so don't worry too much haha//
Today's post will be about my trip to Hong Kong

WARNING: It's a long ass post. So grab some snacks to chew on while reading.
WARNING 2: EVERYTHING HERE IS BASED ON MY PERSONAL OPINION. DON'T LIKE IT? EXIT MY BLOG IMMEDIATELY THANK YOU.
I'll be reviewing my plane ride with Cathay Pacific

The hotel I stayed in - Cordis at Langham Place
And sharing about my time there~
First of all:
My review on Cathay Pacific ✈
My flight was at midnight but I went to the airport early to check-in and thankfully I was allowed to check in early lmao.
The staff member helping to facilitate the check-in was really friendly unlike some other airline
/coughs/ air asia /coughs/ 😒
She helped us with the check-in process and this time round, it took a shorter time compared to previously =_=
Afterwards, she directed us to the baggage check-in counter where we were told that our flight has been delayed c:
Dear cathay pacific,

what a great way to start off my trip right?
So the flight got delayed by more than 30 minutes.
Passengers were supposed to be boarding the plane at 00:35 but it got delayed to 00:55 😕
We thought it was just till 00:55 but guess what...
We didn't get to board the plane until after 1 am 😢
Even until then, the airline took their own sweet time to let the passengers into the aircraft...
And fyi, there was quite a number of china-chinese waiting to board the plane.
The waiting time ended up to be a tiny bit unpleasant.
I was queuing up to check my air ticket verified and this china-chinese female kept getting really close to me and "touching" my ass...
I started feeling really uncomfortable and it showed on my face because the next thing I knew, the staff checking our air tickets told the lady to take a step back and wait patiently.
After waiting and yawning, we finally got to board the plane.
I was seated beside a man who was already asleep before the plane even took off 😆
cathay should have let all of us in asap /sighs/
Anyways, the plane finally took after what seemed like an eternity.
We were served light snacks during the flight.
Sandwiches, Kit Kat, fruits and juice 😁
I've got to say, cathay served pretty decent in-flight meals unlike
/coughs/ air asia /coughs/
For in-flight entertainment, don't expect too much in the music section.
I browsed through the kpop section and it wasn't updated 😑
The movie section is pretty decent, though. There was a selection of movies to watch.
I decided to watch suicide squad while eating but gave up halfway because I couldn't understand the story...
I ended up watching finding dory (again)
#patheticiknow.

BUT LOOK AT HOW CUTE BABY DORY IS 😢
So far, food, staff and service is pretty good.

Next up,
My review on Cordis at Langham Place
Address: 555 Shanghai St, Mong Kok, Hong Kong.
If you're looking for a nice place for your stay in Hong Kong,
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL 👍👍👍
It definitely cost more but,
you pay for what you get.
I'm speaking based on personal experience during this trip.
Below are self-taken photos of the room I stayed in for my trip.
featuring the temporary room I got to rest in because check-in was only at 3pm & we were pretty drained out from the plane ride.

First 3 photos: Temporary room
Next few photos: The room I stayed in during my trip.

The blinds are automated as well.

Ice machine located along the corridor
Normally, the hotels I've stayed in during my holiday trips only cleaned the room once every day.
This hotel provided cleaning services twice daily.
Once in the morning and once in the evening.
In the morning, the staff would come in and clean the room, make the bed and replenish drinking water.
In the evening, the staff would knock on the door/ring the doorbell and ask whether you need anything such as drinking water, shampoo and soap etc.
The room booked during my stay was sorta like a family room so if you're wondering why only 1 bathroom had shower equipment, that's why 😂

*I didn't have breakfast there so I can't rate the food but I'm guessing it would be pretty decent too seeing that the hotel is pretty good and high class-ish
Lastly,
I'll be sharing about my time in Hong Kong.
Things I'll be talking about in this section:
- The people in Hong Kong
- The kind of service I got
- Expenses (How much things cost etc)
- Travel
- Places I went to
1. The people in Hong Kong.
Basically the Hong Kongers.
They are rude 😑. It's like they are looking down on others.
I have no idea why they're like this. So I went to research a bit for this post.
From what I found, it seems like they're like that mainly because their cost of living increases while their income remains the same.
That doesn't make any sense if you ask me. 🙅
K. Maybe it makes a tiny bit of sense.
But its no excuse for anyone to be looking down on others.
Like hello?
Your income is the same while living cost is going up.
Why are you even looking down on other people?
2. The kind of service I got.
When we landed in HK, the klook driver picked us up and drove us to the hotel.
There was no way we could check in at that timing because it was like 7am.
So we decided to go to a nearby 茶餐厅 (cha chan ting) for breakfast.
The people working there left a pretty bad impression on me.
The 茶餐厅 I went to was Kam Wah Cafe.
(ain't providing any directions because I don't want anyone else to experience this shit service)
Before that, I mentally prepared myself to be served by rude waitress/waiter at cafes etc.
Never did I expect them to be THIS rude.
I totally understand if it was during peak hour and there was a huge line of people waiting outside blah blah blah.
HOWEVER, there was no fucking queue when we were there.
There was only 1 table of like 4 people eating when we entered.
The lady working there led us to our table and it was so fucking small.
like wtf? you're expecting 4 adults to sit at that one small corner in your shop???
*also, take into consideration that we were carrying backpacks*
There was no way we would put our backpacks on the floor because people might step on them.
Afterwards, we were handed the menu.
One look at the price,
EXPENSIVE AF.
We didn't know what was like the best selling item in the cafe so we asked.
The waitress just rolled her eyes at us and told us everything is good.
We just randomly ordered the famous polo bun and like a set meal.
fresh butter polo bun
set meal
bill.
I understand from other blogs that the cafe serves the best polo buns.
BULLSHIT.
It's not even nice at all.
We ordered 3 milk tea & 1 horlicks. (17x4, as stated on the bill)
The cup they served our drinks in were smaller than the cups at the kopitiams in singapore
smaller than this but they cost twice as much.
The milk tea tastes like bitter tea.
There was no hint of milk in it.
The horlick was rather okay.
After the horrible breakfast, we headed to Jenny Bakery.
price list
Directions to Jenny Bakery:
1. Take the MTR to Tsim Sha Shui station
2. Walk out of exit D (You'll have to climb the stairs up)
3. Turn to your right after exiting, there should be a building
4. Enter the building, you'll see someone holding a signboard that provides directions to the bakery
5. Follow the directions (Go to the 2nd floor)
6. Jenny Bakery is located on the 2nd floor
2nd way of going to Jenny Bakery
1. Take the MTR to Tsim Sha Shui station
2. Walk out of exit D (You'll have to climb the stairs up)
3. Find Midaro Mansion building & enter
4. Enter the building, you'll see someone holding a signboard that provides directions to the bakery
5. Follow the directions (Go to the 2nd floor)
6. Jenny Bakery is located on the 2nd floor
If you still cannot find the bakery,
ASK A LOCAL FOR DIRECTIONS.
that was what we did anyways...
I would suggest to get the 4 mixed ones instead of the regular flower ones.
Also, please only get just enough for yourself and maybe for your friend/s or family.
Well... unless you're 1000000% sure you will not get sick of it.
Then please, do get more.
Why I'm saying this is because, the cookies don't last very long. They expire quickly.
And you'll probably get sick of it quickly.
Before I flew to taiwan, I went back and got more butter cookies.
When I got back, I opened a new tin and ate like 5 cookies at one go.
Guess what happened next?
I puked everything out. 😐
Now, even smelling it, I feel like puking.
please keep it away from me.
If you see a long queue when you arrive, fret not.
It'll take less than 30 minutes if you're queueing at the end of the stairs, to get to the counter.
It doesn't take very long.
Afterwards, we went back to mongkok and sat down at the starbucks opposite the hotel
while waiting to check in.
We sat there until 12pm.
My sister wasn't feeling too well. So my mum went to ask if the room was ready.
The room wasn't ready yet but as you saw from the above photos,
the hotel staff found an empty room for us to rest in temporary until our actual room was ready.
We packed up our stuffs and left starbucks for our temporary room.
We stayed there until 2:30pm to have lunch before checking into our actual room.
After checking in, we continue sleeping till the evening.
Showered and headed to the Symphony of Lights afterwards.
Let me just say this.
The light show was a HUGE waste of time 😠
I wasted 13 minutes of my time watching a single light beam move around.
Want to watch a good light show???
Just go to MBS.
Their light show is just 😍😍😍
We walked back to the MTR station, disappointed.
Headed back to the shopping mall opposite cordis to have dinner.
pepper lunch and some set meal from a japanese stall for dinner
Dinner wasn't too bad I would say.
But it's still expensive...
So.. uh.. just go for cup noodles.
The next day, we explored the blue line.
Took the train from mongkok to north point to try the famous egglet.
Nothing really special about it. So I wouldn't suggest traveling all the way there just to buy it.
look out for this building. the stall is just nearby.
HK$17 for the egglet. Quite okay pricing.
Directions:
1. Take the MTR to North Point station
2. Go up Exit B3
3. Walk straight against traffic flow until you see a cross junction.
4. Don't cross it. Turn right & you'll reach.
You'll smell the egglet after you go up exit B3. That may help you locate the stall better.
We munched on the egglet while walking and exploring the area.
After that, we took the MTR to central station
Why?
Because we're gonna eat the famous Yat Lok Roast Goose.
Directions:
1. Take the MTR to Central station
2. Exit from Exit G
3. Walk against traffic until you reach Queen's Road
4. Cross the road and walk along traffic until you see d'Aguilar Street
5. Turn in and walk until you see Stanley Street
6. Go up the slope until you see the signboard below
↓↓↓
Yat Lok Restaurant is just right beside this signboard.
I honestly don't find anything special about this roast goose except the skin.
The skin is just 👍👍👍👍👍
The meat of the duck/goose tastes the same as the ones I've eaten in singapore.
(maybe my taste buds weren't working well in hong kong)
It was one of the most expensive meals we had, in hong kong.
We walked around the area before taking the train to city gate outlet.
There was a whole lot of sales going on.
Tons of people shopping so don't be surprised if someone bumps into you and walks away without saying sorry.
They're all trying to get everything from the sales.
So yeah.
Directions:
1. Take the MTR to Tung Chung station
2. Exit from Exit C
3. You'll see a New Balance store after exiting.
We just walked around, didn't buy much plus it was already 3pm by the time we got there.
Most of the items we wanted to get were either sold out or didn't come in the size we want.
We just decided to go back the next day and get the stuffs.
You must be wondering what we did there...
We walked around the supermarket and got dinner there as well.
trust me, the food in the picture tastes better than the ones served outside.
The next day, we woke up early and took the train back to Tung Chung station.
Why?
Because we wanted to take the cable car up to see the giant buddha & also to shop at city gate outlet.
crystal cabin
It took about 1h 30 minutes for us to get into the cable car.
We bought tickets for the crystal cabin which means instead of having an opaque platform, ours was transparent, allowing us to see the surroundings below us.
egglets again!
light snack before proceeding
giant buddha from afar
giant buddha up close
It was a tiring journey up.
At the bottom, I looked up at the stairs and thought to myself
"this is gonna be easy"
oh how wrong was I...
I stopped half way to take a break before continuing up.
(okay lah. I'm just unfit)
In the end, it was all worth it because the view from upstairs was amazing.
Please be careful when climbing down because its rather steep. ;-;
Directions to the cable car:
1. Take the MTR to Tung Chung station
2. Exit from Exit C
3. I forgot but there are signages. So don't worry!
You might be thinking "should I get the tickets online beforehand?"
It's really up to you. It might not be faster than those without tickets.
No guarantees you'll 100% be faster than those without tickets.
Because we didn't purchase tickets beforehand but we were faster than some who had tickets.
After the tiring journey, we walked back to the cable car and took it back down.
Shopped around city gate outlet and bought a huge load of stuff back 👀
Can't blame me. Everything was cheaper than usual.
I still haven't talked about the Line and Disney Store...
I'll do that in the next post because this one is getting way too long for my liking.
Next Post,
Disney x Line Store
Can't wait to talk about it.
To sum up this post, hong kong is an expensive country to live in/travel to.
(more expensive than singapore if you ask me)
Hong Kongers will judge you/look down on you
Don't expect high end or even good service from 茶餐厅 even during non-peak hours.
I won't be flying back to hong kong anytime soon or even anymore.
If you haven't been to hong kong and is planning to go,
I don't suggest you spend so much money to travel there.
Fly to taiwan instead!!
Till the next post,
xoxo,
